Chesley Sullenberger i a retired pilot from Texas who successfully executed and emergency water landing of flight 1549 on January 15, 2009 when the plane hit a flock of Canadian geese on there initial climb after takeoff. Every one of the 155 passengers and crew survived and he was seen as a national hero. He was ranked second in times top 100 most influential heroes and icons of 2009.
